The mismatched pair.

A wide, empty space. Bits and pieces of shrubs, rocks and short patches of grass are the only things visible over the barren ground. On one of the bigger rocks, a girl sat casually, flipping something in her hand up to the air, and catching it again, repeating endlessly. The girl had a peculiar appearance; her hair, while mostly black, had a shade of violet to the side; her eyes were a mismatch of clear blue and sable black. Her clothes were monochromic though; black hoodie, white shirt, black pants, white sneakers. Talk about a checkerboard.

Gen, for that was her name, was waiting for someone -or something- who is said to be a living creature that normal humans have no idea of. In her hand was the proof that made her believe this random guy; a Digivice, as he called it. It was a device which Gen had never seen before; she even dismantled it to see if she recognized anything about it. Unfortunately, she knew nothing about the mechanics of the said Digivice, let alone what it's made from. That was more than enough to spark up her lust to know, and resulted in this meeting.

Her eyes were on the Digivice that she was flicking up in the air. This thing was what brought her here. The method made her doubtful at first; she was supposed to face it at the computer screen? Of course, there were other preparations like checking if the gateway was open, but still; the technology of teleportaion wasn't even invented yet! Just how?

"GENNNNN?!" A sudden shout from far away; Gen stopped flipping her Digivice in the air. That strangely sounded like... a little kid. A little loud kid. She sighed, then got up from the rock. What did he say to do? She thought, fiddling with the buttons on the Digivice. Press this, then say something into it?

"....Hi?" After repeating 'hi' several times, flipping through different buttons, she finally found the channel.

"GENNNNNN?!" came the deafening shout from the Digivice, nearly making her drop it in surprise.

"SHUT IT," she shouted back angrily, then tried to control herself.

"Where are you?"

"I'LL BE RIGHT THERE, I FOUND YOU NOW."

"...Can you talk any quieter?"

"...QUIETER?

LIKE THIS?!"

"..." Gen sighed. She'll have to get used to this loud mouth if she was to be his 'partner'.

"... YOU LOOK WEAKER THAN I IMAGINED," came a slightly annoying male voice.

"You look uglier than I imagined. And wait, are your eyes hand-drawn or something?" Gen replied, pointing where his eyes would normally be.

"MY EYES? YOU MEAN THESE?" Dracmon said, showing his tamer his palm. On the middle of the said palm, there was an eye staring back at her.

"... I take my word back; you're the most grotesque thing in the whole world." She said half-jokingly after inspecting his palm. Dracmon gave a short laughter which reminded her of a metal grinder.

"I LIKE YOU ALREADY," he said, then suddenly bit Gen's arm.

"Hey, What are you-" Before she could finish her words, his fangs slid off of Gen's arm which was now rapidly turning red from the leaking blood. She quickly gripped her arm with her left hand, giving pressure to try and reduce her blood loss and numb her senses of the sudden pain. Dracmon gave another laugh after wiping his lip with his tongue.

"AAAND YOU TASTE WONDERFUL!" he said, smacking his lips together. The next thing he knew, he was flying after being punted by his very own tamer. "Serves you right," she muttered before sitting down, keeping her grip on her bloody arm.

Thankfully, the wound wasn't deep; apparently Dracmon had some sort of chemical to stop the blood from clotting; a natural vampire function. That was why there was so much blood; after a while, the would was just a simple line of scabs.

Even after that little incident, they freely talked to each other - they were used to the relationship between them, since their first meeting was during an online instant message which Dracmon [who was a Tsunomon back then] had been unconsciously drawn to. From then on, they adapted to each other's personality.

"So, now that I'm here in the 'Digital World', I'm starting to feel a bit excited," she said absent-mindedly.

"I mean, it's a whole new world to explore! Who knows just what kind of secrets hides under the solid data."

"WELL, IT NEVER REALLY TURNS OUT THAT WAY," Dracmon replied, thinking through the stories he heard during his time.

"WHEN A HUMAN IS PARTNERED WITH A DIGIMON, THEY ARE GIVEN A HUGE RESPONSIBILITY, LIKE STOPPING THE COLLAPSE OF THE TWO WORLDS."

"That sounds hard and profit-less."

"I THINK SO TOO, BUT SOONER OR LATER, SOME OTHER TAMERS WOULD MAKE YOU JOIN THEIR MERRY BAND. SOMETHING CALLED A DATA SQUAD I THINK."

She snorted at Dracmon's words.

"Then I'll just kick their ass with your undead skills. They can't force me to do whatever they want me to do."

"KEKEKE, THEN HOW ABOUT BECOMING A DARK DATS?" Gen raised an eyebrow at his words. Dark DATS?

"THINK OF IT AS AN ANTI-DATA SQUAD; A GROUP THAT WORKS FOR PROFITS AND THEIR OWN PURPOSE."

"Now, that sounds interesting... But how am I to join these groups?"

"SIMPLE; YOU FIND A TAMER OR A DIGIMON THAT WORKS AS THE DARK DATS, AND ASK TO JOIN THEM!" dracmon said with a higher pitch which he seems to do when excited. It sounded like nails on a blackboard, just not as ear-killing.

Gen pondered over the idea; it sounds plausible, and well, she could journey and such while she searches for these Dark DATS as well! it's like killing two birds with one stone. She slowly nodded, finally deciding that she...

will become a Dark DATS.

A Labramon came sniffing around the corner. When his head rose, he started growling. "Labramon! Wait up! Your a whole lot faster than me!" I yelled. When I came to the spot where the two were, I was stopped in my tracks. I was excited. Another digion tamer came along to help me! "I've heard that the girl wanted to become a Dark DATS. I hate them." Labramon announced to me.
I looked over at the two."Um, is this true? You know what the Dark DATS do, right? Anyways, my name is Verronica." I asked. I looked over, just to make sure the Dark Apemons weren't following me.

Where did these two come from so suddenly? Wait... A human and a Digimon... That meant someone like Gen?

The girl's Digimon must've overheard Dracmon's loud voice; Looking at the said Digimon, she saw it face-palming at the other Digimon's words.

"Call me Gen," She replied to the girl. "What do the Dark DATS do?" If she was to join a group, Gen reasoned, she'd need as much information as possible about these groups. This new girl seemed to know something about it, so Gen decided to probe this... Verronica about the details.

As I listened to Gen, I was thinking about what I heard about the Dark DATS. "Oh, call me Verronica. I've heard evil things about that group. First, I heard that they try to control both worlds. I also heard that they do this to get power. They don't even care about how this affects other digimon. All they want is power. Sometimes,darkness gets to them. Then, they become pure evil. Well, thats what I heard. I am pretty sure it is true because all the people I talk to, say the exact same thing! Well, there is this digimon. He seems pretty evil but, he is small. He makes other digimon turn on each other." I replied.
I looked over as I saw two Gotsumon running our way. They had evil smirks on their faces. I could tell DemiDevimon had gotten to them. "Dracmon, look! Labramon barked as he stared at the digimons.

"Your friends?" Gen said to her partner Digimon, pointing at the two rocks approaching them.

"NUP." Dracmon replied. He faced his palm at them for a closer look [since he has eyes on his palm... I guess?] "LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE... CONTROLLED BY SOMETHING?" He said after seeing their smirks. Gen shrugged, thinking the approaching rocks were no big deal, and turned to Verronica.

"So, you're saying that Dark DATS are evil and such? Wellll, is that all you know about them?"

I looked at the girl after hearing the question. "Well, pretty much. But, if you want to become evil, thats fine by me. I heard that there was a tamer, who became so obssessed with power, that he almost wiped out a digimon race! Anyways, I think we are going to have to fight theses two." I said.
When I looked at the digimon, they were running after us. One of them yelled, "Rock Fist!". It hit Labramon with a huge force. The other one got ready to attack Dracmon.

When the rocks started attacking, Gen just stood there for a few moments before realizing they were under attack. As soon as that registered in her mind, she stepped back, putting Dracmon between herself and the rocks. Once there, she pointed her Digivices at them just the way she did when Dracmon told her about the function.

"Gotsumon, huh. Hey Drac, you can deal with a couple rockheads, right?" Dracmon, who was just looking at what Gen was doing, realized that she was putting him as a meat shield decoy. Angered by that fact, he stomped his feet before turning to face the roc-... er, Gotsumons.

"OF COURSE, THEY'RE A PIECE OF CHESSE FONDUE," He shouted, then lunged at one of the Gotsumon, his fangs open wide.

"UNDEAD FANG!"

I barely understood what Gen was trying to do. But I didin't care that much. " Retri-Bark!" Labramon howled. He kept on using the attack, over and over. Then, the Gotsumon dissappeared into data.
Labramon jumped over to be beside the Dracmon. I looked at the Gotsumon. He had a band on his neck. "Whoa, what is that?" I aksed Gen. Just as I finished, Gotsumon jumped over Dracmon. "Rock Fist!" Gotsumon yelled.

"...Drac's bite mark?" Gen guessed almost simultaneously as the Gotsumon's fist hit squarely on Dracmon. He flew again to a few distance before running back to the Digimon. With an angry growl, Dracmon threw a punch at the Gotsumon too.

"TAKE THAT, YOUR PILE OF ROCKS!" he shouted, throwing rapid punch after punch.

"No, that black collar on his neck. See, its right there, you can't really see it. Just wait till he uses rock fist again." I told Gen. I looked at the Gotsumon who finally grabbed Dracmon by hte arms. "Retri-Bark!" Labramon howled.
I looked over, there was a horse digimon coming. I pulled out my D-Terminal. It read Unimon. I could tell by the description, that this digimon was way too powerful. "Um, Gen? We better hurry up and finish this digimon! There is an even powerful digimon on its way!" I said. I knew the two digimon would have to work together.

{I'm assuming you mean that black ring thing which was used to control Digimons from the Season Two Anime?}

After the girl pointed out, she saw it; the collar wasn't that visible on the Gotsumon's dark rocky skin, but she saw it.

"NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT," Drac said after taking a step back, his fist freed from Gotsumon's thanks to Labramon.

"THOSE ROCKS DON'T USUALLY HAVE THEM COLLARS, IT'S WEIRD,". Collar, huh. He then spread his palm to the still standing Gotsumon, shouting, "EYE OF NIGHTMARE!". Instantly, the Gotsumon stopped moving due to the hypnotic effects of his palm-eye.

"What now?" Gen mumbled at the sudden shout from Verronica, and saw the charging unicorn-like Digimon. Gritting her teeth, she turned to Dracmon.

"can I go back to my world from the way I came here?"

"IF YOU MEAN THROUGH A MONITOR, THEN YEAH."

"Okay, then. Drac, take one of the Gotsumons. Verronica, follow me; we should be able to go back to the real world just like the way I came here in the first place." She said addressing both the girl and her Digimon, then turned without hearing their answers, running towards the opposite direction of the incoming Unimon. She was curious about the black collar, but Dracmon was going to bring one of the rocks - a specimen- with him... hopefully. In any case, her destination was the weird TV screen that was sitting on a pile of rocks over that way. Since she came to this world by showing her Digivice to her computer screen, she guessed it works the same way from here.

Dracmon, baffled by the instruction, stood there until he realized Gen was leaving without him.

"H-HEY, WAIT!" he shouted, then slung one of the Gotsumons across his shoulder, not caring if he was literally dragging the rock digimon and started running after Gen.

"THESE ARE HEAVY AS! WAAAAIT FOR MEEEEEE!"

I followed Gen. When I heard Dracmon, I slowed down and picked the Gotsumon up. It was time for a real work out, I guess. We ran for a long time. The plains become a desert-like plain. There were piles of rocks every where. We kept searching. No sign.
I dropped the Gotsumon next to Labramon. "Watch him. If that Unimon finds us, bring him along. You might need Dracmon's help. I will be back." I told Labramon. I ran off into the deep part of the rocks. After about an hour, I was in shock. I saw the TV. It was busted up. I new a digimon had to of done this.

(OOC: Yes, I do mean the rings in season 2. But these are even more high tech.)

While Verronica was digging around places, Gen had been searching on her own. She was sure that the Unimon would easily find them in this empty plains... perhaps she should bring her own portable TV or something next time she comes back to the Digital World or something. Not sure if that'll work, though.

"GEN, WHAT THE FRUIT CAKE ARE YOU PLANNING TO DO WITH THAT ROCK OVER THERE?" Dracmon called out while she was lost in thought. Looking back at the source of the sound, she found Drac with Labramon and a fainted Gotsumon.

"I was going to study that collar thing,"

"THEN WE DONT NEED THAT HEAVY DUDE?"

"...Not really." With that, Dracmon gave a satisfied nod, then approached the fallen Gotsumon, and before anyone could act, slashed at the Gotsumon, turning him into data.

"What are you-?!" Gen shouted, only to see a grinning Dracmon with the said collar in his claws. She sighed, but oh well; what's done is done. Taking the collar from him, she traced her finger on its sleek black body. It looked as though there were some kind of symbols etched into it, but apart from that, it didn't look anything more than a simple dog collar. Dracmon looked at her actions, curious about the collar as well.

I was shocked at the site. I knew I had to tell Gen. I started running to the site of the others. When I arrived, I had to wait a few minutes to catch my breathe.
"We've got a big problem. I found the TV. But it was busted." I told Gen. Labramon raced over to me, thinking I was dying(since he didn't learn all the features of the human yet.)."That can only mean one thing, Verronica. There is another digimon around." Labramon barked. I looked all around. I looked on my D-Terminal. Well, nothing. Atleast nothing in the clearance zone.

"...Huh?" was the first reply from Gen, then she frowned. So, their only way back was now gone, and there was a possibility of another Digimon nearby. Great.

"IF WE CAN FIND A TRAILMON STATION, WE CAN GO BACK," Drac suddenly blurted out. Now that was a good news, despite not knowing what this... 'trailmon' is.

"Where's the nearest... er, station?"

"A COUPLE MINUTES WALK OVER THAT-A-WAY," He pointed to the direction where the Unicorn-like Digimon was.

"...Isn't there a safer way?"

"WELL, THERE'S ONE ON THE OTHER SIDE, ABOUT THREE DAY'S WALK TO REACH IT THOUGH."

"...Right. Let's try to go past that strong Digimon and look out for that other Digimon that broke the TV." She said to Verronica before walking back the way they came from. Drac followed, mutering something about how Gen was bossy and such.

I started walking at a fast pace. "We might want to stop every now and then. We also might want some water." I said. I thought about how this world could change. Labramon ran ahead to scout out the area.
I was kinda happy that we had some good news. But, something kept bugging me. I knew we ahd to stay. We had to help these digimon. But how? Everything is stopping us from completing this task. I just kept walking, then got a slower pace, then even slower.

"Well, If we reach the Station first, I'll think about getting water." Gen replied, high on alert for any approaching Digimon. Around about here was where that Unimon was... and that other Gotsumon, she suddenly remembered. They had only taken care of one of the two Gotsumons, so that rock Digimon could be anywhere if it woke up.

Unlike her worries, however, she soon spotted the unmoving body of the Gotsumon. So it hasn't woken up yet! but that meant that the Unimon could also be around...

Looking at her D-Terminal, she could only see the dots of the four of them - Labramon, Verronica, Drac and herself - and the red dot of that Gotsumon over there.

"Well, looks like we'll reach the station soo-" Gen broke off suddenly as she saw a red dot coming in range to the D-Terminal's screen. It approached rapidly towards where the four of them were.

"Damn, we're found. Let's move before that Unimon catches up!" She called out, to which Dracmon nodded and led the way.

"You guys too," Gen called out to Verronica as she ran after Drac; she knew they weren't fast enough to avoid the incoming hostile Digimon, but at least this'll lead them closer to the station.

I stretched as quickly as I could. I used to be on a track team. I quickly dashed off at a mild pace. When I see that digimon, I will be at my full flegded pace. I quickly caught up to Gen and Dracmon.
I looked back. There was a raging horse flying towards us. It was faster than I thought. I motioned to Gen to use every muscle in her body. Then, I was running for my life. I sped quickly. My pace was wide and strong. Hopefully, the digimon wouldn't annihalate all of them. Just as that thought finished, the horse digimon landed. But, it was still running. I got an idea. "Hey, Gen! We should stop and grab on to the mane. It seems like the digimon is heading the direction we need to!" I said.

What Verronica was saying wasn't totally a bad idea; the Unimon was, in fact, heading the same way because, well, it was chasing them. The problem was would they be able to actually grab onto that Digimon?

Unlike Gen, Drac instantly reacted by suddenly stopping and getting his claws ready. He aimed for the perfect opportunity, then jumped... and managed to grab onto the incoming Unimon.

"GOTCHA! NOW GEN, YOU T- WOAH, H-HELP!" Drac's eager voice suddenly changed to desperation as he realized how stronger Unimon was as it started thrashing the moment Drac hold onto him. Drac held on for his dear life, calling out Gen's name over and over, the panic in his voice rising.

"...Why do I feel like a babysitter suddenly?" She muttered, before approaching the thrashing Unimon to help out her partner... somehow.

"Here, I got it!" I said. I stopped and got on to the Unimon. I pushed down on a point behind the ear. The Unimon's head thrashed up, then lowered. I figured horses can be controlled by different points in the body.
Labramon jumped, but then almost got wacked by the legs. He tried again, this time, I caught him. I shoved him up on the back. The Unimon was still heading the same way. I reached my hand out to Jen, and the Unimon slowed down quite a bit.

For once, Gen was impressed by her fellow tamer; she had tamed the fearsome Digimon!

Getting on with Verronica onto the Unimon and sitting the small Dracmon on her lap so that all four of them could fit, she spoke to Verronica.

"Alright, let's go to the station. Then we'll be home."

"IT'S NOT THAT FAR, AND NOW WE'LL REACH IT IN NO TIME!" Dracmon said after Gen's words.

"Cool, then hold on." I said. I pressed harder on the ear spot and the Unimon flew faster. I was kinda happy at my success, seeing that Gen actually was kinda happy at what I did.
We arrived at the station. But there was a huge problem. The station was old and busted, the windows were cracked, the doors were busted down, and a sign in the window said 'out of businness, RUN!'. I was down. Labramon growled and started sniffing.

"...Care to explain, Drac?" Gen snapped at her partner, seeing the state of the station. He shrugged.

"IT WAS ALREADY LIKE THIS WHEN I WAS DROPPED OFF BY A TRAILMON," He said. "THERE IS A SINGLE TRAILMON THAT TRAVELS THIS TRACK WHENEVER. THE THING IS, I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHEN THE NEXT ROUND IS."

"...Great, so now we have to wait for a train that might or might not come, with what, a hostile digimon possibly preying upon us."

"YOU GOT A BETTER IDEA?"

"...hm. Hey Verronica, any ideas?" She called out at the fellow Tamer.

I looked inside. I couldn't really see. Then I remembered my flashlight. I pulled it out. Then, Gen asked the question. I turned around and looked at the Unimon. "Well, we could use the Unimon to travel to the other one, which will take 3 days, or we can wait here for the train and that might take an hour. Your choice. but I am checking out the place." I said.
I turned back around. I turned on my flashlight. The place was way bigger than I expected. I walked further in. The place was really long, too. Like in length, not width. I kept walking till I heard a loud groan. I stopped and then kept walking. My flashlight revealed a Trainmon slowly evaporating into data. I was shocked.
