I love dreams. Or rather, I do now. Apparently I used to have nightmares all the time from which I could not wake. But, fortunately, I don’t remember any of them. The reason I like my dreams now is because I’m fighting back. It always seems that when I dream I end up fighting for my life against someone or something. In fact, I usually wake up from a dream because I got killed. I’ve been shot with bullets, shot with arrows, fallen off of cliffs, been attacked by swarms of killer bees…get the picture?

Within the last year or so, I’ve been able to protect myself in dreams. One dream in particular I tore a person to pieces with my bare hands. Now that was fun. Especially since he was trying to murder some people I was protecting. It’s fun playing the hero. Too bad the dream had to end with me going back to my ‘bedroom’ (which looked uncannily like my bedroom in real life, usually places look different in my dreams) only to find my trash can had been moved to the center of the room and had the words, ‘I’m back’ carved into it. When I saw that I woke up and since the room in my dream had looked like my real bedroom I was terrified out of my wits.

The reason I’m writing all of this is because I like talking about dreams. You can do so much in them and I like hearing what other people have dreamed about. For example: have you ever flown in a dream? Have you ever teleported? Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a war zone holding a rifle in your hands? If you have ever had a bizarre dream I’d love to hear about it.

Has anyone ever had a dream were it seemed like it was the best it could possibly be, but then something happens in that dream to where it turns into a Nightmare? Did you know there is a way to never have another Nightmare unless you truly want it? Did you know you could constantly shape how you dream and what happens in them?

My curiosity on the matter sparked after i saw the amazing film known as Inception. The movie explains that while we are awake we are only using a fraction of our brains true potential, but when we are asleep all of that changes. Have you sometimes realized that in Dreams gravity isn't always there? Or you don't have breathe air while underwater? This simply because th laws of physics mean nothing in our dreams.

Well I don't know if any of you are, but I'm a practicer of the method of Dreaming known as "Lucid Dreaming". To dumb this down much would be to say that I practice controlling my Dreams. For the past couple of months I've been doing this: placing certain people in my dreams, warping the areas around me, and just to try it out turned my dreams into nightmares.

It is all overwhelming when you first think about it !

I saw that movie…yeah, our brains can do a lot more than we give them credit for. As for the Lucid Dreaming thing, the one problem with that is actually realizing that you’re dreaming. Or, at least, I have that problem. Can’t say the same for everyone, of course.

Before I could actually start controlling them during the day I would check my phone every 5 minutes while asking myself if I was awake or asleep. If I was dreaming that I was doing this then the time on my phone would remain constant, but if I was awake it would change. This overall took me a week to really get the hang of it.

This is all pretty interesting . . . I think I'll try Jeselle's methods of Lucid Dreaming !

I always experience one of two things; a dreamless sleep, or a WILD. It's something to do with my minor mental condition.

WILD, or Wake-Initiated Lucid Dreaming, is when you fall asleep and dream while you're awake. So like one moment, I'm lying on my bed, the next I see flying unicorns. And I see that Lucid Dreaming has been mentioned already. This can get quite annoying when I'm pulling all-nighters for assessments that're due the next day; one moment I'm furiously tapping away in my computer [I'm an IT major], the next, that same computer turns into a pillow as I enter WILD. What.
